DODGERS STADIUM
Los Angeles, California
Project Description
Los Angeles Dodger Stadium is a unique project in that it is a phased renovation where, in each off season, a different level is renovated. Ricca Newmark Design is contracted to provide all culinary design for this on-going project. In 2007, the Field Level (main concourse) was renovated. Future stages are already forthcoming including design work for future club level renovations as well as outdoor concessions and terrace bars that surround the stadium. This project is especially challenging in that the building itself is a nine story, stepped structure built into the hillside. The building has an extensive number sizeable seismic load-bearing walls which create very tight spaces and in many cases, very low ceilings. Given these conditions, designing concessions and restaurant spaces that flow and function well is challenging. Despite these difficulties, there are now double the number of concessions stands and two new clubs on the completed Field Level alone. Due to improved culinary planning and design, the concessions stands are now supported by kitchens directly behind them and boast state-of-the-art kitchen equipment.
